Storage Shelves in my Chevy Tahoe Truck Camper

Do you ever get an idea in your head that you just can’t get out? That is how this project was for me. After several months of daydreaming, I decided to build additional storage into the back of my 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe camper conversion.

Installing a Wood Floor in my Chevy Tahoe Camper

When I originally built my Tahoe for camping, I did so on a tight budget. I wasn’t sure how often I would use it or for how long. In the past year, I’ve spent a heck of a lot of time living out of my Chevy Tahoe camper. It’s been awesome but I’ve definitely seen some opportunities for improvement. And so, I’ve decided to start making incremental improvements and documenting them here!

Low Budget Camper Conversion in a Nissan Rogue

Contrary to what you often see on social media, you don’t actually need a huge Mercedes Sprinter Van in order to enjoy the outdoors while living comfortably out of your car for extended periods of time. I’ll admit that my Tahoe is on the larger side (and I certainly pay the gas price for that) but I’ve seen people live full time in much smaller vehicles like a Honda Civic or even a Toyota Prius!

My 4×4 Adventure on the White Rim Road

Back in September of 2020, I visited Moab, Utah with my parents. While we were there, we visited Canyonlands National Park where I happened upon information regarding the White Rim Road (or White Rim Trail as it is sometimes called) which forms a 100 mile loop through the backcountry of Canyonlands. To be more specific, I happened upon A Naturalist’s Guide to the White Rim Trail by David B. Williams and Damian Fagan. With this, I planned an overland adventure through Canyonlands for the Spring of 2021.

Prana Makes the Best Shorts for Climbing

I’ve always been someone who doesn’t like to spend money on clothes. I don’t really care that much about the latest trends and I always thought “why would I spend $30 on a t-shirt when I can get a pack of them for $6 from Walmart”. Well recently, I was mountain biking with a good friend of mine and he was raving about these pants he gets from a company called Prana. I had been struggling to find a comfortable pair of pants or shorts for climbing that were still durable enough for rugged adventures and still fit well with a climbing harness. Hearing such good reviews, I decided to take the plunge.

Solo Red Rock Trip in my Chevy Tahoe Camper

After spending most of 2020 climbing in my DIY home gym or in the area around SLC, I was itching to head to some new crags. Unfortunately, February is still pretty cold and snowy to be able to do any climbing around SLC or even most of Utah. So I decided to head down to Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas where the weather is warm and the rock is dry.

First Outings with my Chevy Tahoe Camper Conversion

Shortly after building my very own camping vehicle, and publishing my guide on how you can do it too, my state (and country) went into a stay at home lockdown due to the COVID-19 virus. Unfortunately, this meant that I didn’t get to take many of the trips I was planning at the start of the year but once the restrictions were eased a bit, I started to take some small trips to some of the more remote areas near me.
